CM approves proposal- a new action plan for de-addiction

The chief minister approved the proposal:

New action plan for de-addiction to be implemented in the state and budget sanctioned for dr. gurusharan chhabra public awareness campaign.

Jaipur, 21 Sept. The State Government will implement a new action plan for the expansion of Navjeevan Yojana for the rehabilitation of persons and families who are addicted to alcohol and those involved in the manufacture of handcuffs. A big public awareness campaign against drug addiction will also be launched in the memory of Shri Gurusharan Chhabra.

Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has approved the proposal of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department also approved an additional budget provision of Rs.25.74 crore. In the year 2009, the ‘Navjeevan Yojana’ was launched to rehabilitate the families associated with handcuffs in the state. Hence in the state budget year 2021-22, the expansion of the scheme and the state-wide public awareness campaign against drug addiction was announced.

According to the approved proposal, under the new action plan of Rs, 22.60 crores will be spent for Navjeevan Yojana activities for the identification and rehabilitation of persons and families suffering from drug addiction. Under this, skill training will be given to 5000 persons of the target group, which will cost a total of Rs 11.2 crore. There is a budget provision of spending 10 crores for infrastructure.

Under this scheme, Rs 70 lakh will be spent for the distribution of 2 thousand cycles to school children of respective families, Rs 60 lakh for the survey of target persons and families and Rs 10 lakh for the hostel for 500 students. Apart from this, the families suffering from drugs will be benefited on a priority basis by a grant of the loan under Indira Gandhi Urban Credit Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi NREGA and Rajivika Yojana and fee reimbursement under Right to Education Act.

Under the Gurusharan Chhabra public awareness campaign, various activities will be conducted up to the panchayat level, which will cost Rs 3.14 crore. Rs 1.64 crore will be spent on organizing awareness camps in the target group habitations and Rs 1 crore on advertisement and film production in electronic media and newspapers at the state level.

Budget of Rs 50 lakh is proposed publicity, advertisement, hoardings, pamphlets distribution etc. and for drug de-addiction.In addition, film screenings, short stories and street plays, sports competitions, innovation promotion and educational development activities will be conducted under other de-addiction programs and schemes.

This decision of Shri Gehlot shows the commitment of the State Government with the agreement signed with former MLA Shri Gurusharan Chhabra on September 8, 2013. By getting rid of this evil and rehabilitating the families involved in making drug addicts and handcuffed liquor, they will be motivated for creative work.
