Udaan yojana to be launched on first lady PM’s birthday. All women in the state will get free sanitary napkins.
Jaipur, 21 Sept. The first woman Prime Minister of the country, Smt. Indira Gandhi. On her birthday November 19, the state government will launch an ‘Udan Yojana’ to make all the women of the state aware of better health and personal physical hygiene and to prevent various diseases. Under the scheme, free distribution of sanitary napkins will be done through schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres etc. in a phased manner.
Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has approved the proposal of a budget provision of Rs.200 crore for the UDAN scheme. By increasing the scope of distribution of free sanitary napkins to girl students and adolescent girls for better health and hygiene, now this facility will be given to all the women of the state in a phased manner as per the requirement. Special awareness campaigns related to women’s health will be done by women self-help groups, social and non-governmental organizations etc.
The women’s empowerment department will be the nodal department of the UDAN scheme. It will be done with the departments of Medical and Health, School Education and College Education, as well as Technical and Higher Education, Tribal Area Development and Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments. For effective implementation, two brand ambassadors will be made at the state level and district level. Voluntary organizations, brand ambassadors etc. related to the scheme will also be rewarded for doing excellent work.
As per the scheme, the napkins made by the Rajasthan Health Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL) by self-help groups will be given under the ‘Mukhyamantri Free Scheme’. Napkins will be distributed free of cost through schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres etc. The proper stock of sanitary napkins will be given to all the distribution centres by RMSCL. With this decision of Shri Gehlot, awareness about health and personal hygiene will increase among all the adolescent girls and women of the state. The girls and women of rural areas, who are unable to discuss their health-related problems and because of this they suffer from many types of diseases, will be able to get the facility of free sanitary napkins more easily.
