Divisional Commissioner Shri Dinesh Kumar Yadav has asked the police and district administration officials to do their best towards fair, fear-free, and transparent elections in the district in the review meeting of law and order for the general elections 2021 of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Mr Yadav said that the entire process of election of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members to be held in three phases should be done fairly and transparently; for this, a set of instructions will be issued by the Election Department, and a code of conduct should be ensured.
District Election Officer and District Collector Antar Singh Nehra said that law and order should be kept tight for a peaceful and smooth voting process during the election. He said that such polling stations should be identified where the need for additional monitoring is felt. Carrying firearms and sharp weapons should be strictly prohibited, and habitual criminals should be kept under strict surveillance. Along with this, the safety of the polling party personnel should also be ensured. The rule of a complete ban on the use and sale of liquor should be strictly followed 48 hours before the polling day.
Apart from this, a complete ban on bringing cordless phones, wireless sets, electronic gadgets, etc. by anyone other than the election staff within a radius of 100 meters of the polling station on the polling day shall be imposed, and special care should be taken such that no such prohibited device is brought in via vehicles.
Returning and Assistant Returning Officers meeting
District Election Officer Mr Nehra reviewed the election preparations by holding a meeting of Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, and various election cell in-charges and provided necessary guidelines related to the voting process.
