Jaipur, 13 September. For the smooth working of the parliamentary system, it is necessary for the legislature to look in other duties apart from the role of the party and the opposition. He said that relations between the opposition and the ruling party are important or a parliamentary working system. He said the legislature is not just lawmaking. Elective representatives should solve people’s problems.
In the inauguration of a seminar organized by the commonwealth parliamentary association, the Rajasthan branch on ‘parliamentary system and public expectations. He said that in a democracy the parties and the opposition work together on development issues. There is a difference between people’s demands in developed and developing countries. In our country, people do not vote only for making laws or policies in the election, but for work and solving problems. Parliament can be successful only if elected representatives meet the expectations of the people. He said MLA’s and MPs should maintain the house and be aware of the rules. Shri Azad said that the legislature plays the role of a good teacher by completing the responsibility of taking government schemes to the people and educating people about them.
Dr. C.P. said that when he was the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Azad was an example of completing schemes on time. He saw the public’s demand in parliamentary democracy and people have different demands from a sarpanch, an MLA, and an MP. He said that schemes should be implemented at the state and panchayat levels otherwise they are of no use. Dr. Joshi said that after corona big challenge was to reconnect the poor children with education in rural areas. After this epidemic, people expect medical and education facilities should be available for all.
Shri Gulab Chand Kataria leader of opposition said that the ruling party should take development works to the people and the oppositions should take people’s problems to power. He said the parties and the opposition should work together for the last person who is still poorly living.
Shri Samarth Lodha secretary and MLA of the Rajasthan branch said we should be proud of the Rajasthan assembly that in the last three and a half years assembly has never been stopped for a full day due to any problems. He said that now the common man knows about his rights. They are not dependent on any political party to solve their problems.
