Jaipur | Mayor Somya Gurjar has received a setback in the judicial investigation for assault and indecency with the then commissioner of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation, Yagyamitra Singh Dev.
Senior DJ Mudita Bhargava has held Saumya and three councilors Ajay Singh Chauhan, Shankar Sharma and Paras Jain guilty of misconduct, negligence in performance of duties and abusive language. The report has been sent to the Autonomous Secretary.
Now on the basis of the investigation report, the government can disqualify Somya Gurjar and all the three councilors from the existing posts and disqualify them to contest elections for six years by taking action as per the provisions of the Municipality Act.
Let us inform that Greater Commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Dev gave a report in Jyoti Nagar police station on June 2021 that the councilors used abusive language by assaulting them during the meeting of the corporation. After this the government suspended Soumya.
The High Court had ordered a judicial inquiry in 6 months. Advocate Vishnudayal Sharma, appearing for the state government, told that the investigation lasted 13 months.
Restored by stay order of Supreme Court on suspension
The government replaced Somya and made Sheel Dhabhai the mayor. The High Court also upheld the suspension of Soumya. Later, while hearing the SLP of Soumya, the Supreme Court had stayed the suspension on 1 February 2022. After the order of the Supreme Court, Soumya took over the post of mayor again.
