Jaipur: A young Asiatic lion, Tejas who suffered paralysis a year ago died in Nahargarh Biological Park on Monday evening. He was sick for the last few days.
Tejas was born to Tejika and Siddharth nearly three and a half years ago and all three have died. This is 8th death of a big cat in Nahargarh Biological Park in 13 months, which has come as a shock for the wildlife lovers.
A medical board conducted a postmortem and the carcass was disposed off on Monday. There was some improvement in Tejas’s health for the last two days and his health was also being monitored, but on the night of November 2, his condition suddenly deteriorated and he died.
The medical board took samples, which have been sent to IVRI Bareilly for testing. Earlier, tigress Rambha’s cub, Riddhi died on September 21, 2019.
Lioness Suzanne died on September 1, 2019, the white tigress, Sita passed away on September 26, 2019, tiger cub, Rudra on June 9, 2020.
The only tiger Raja died in August 2020, Babbar lion Sidharth and Kailash died on June 20, 2020 and October 17, 2020 respectively. After the deaths of 8 big cats, only Tripur and Tara are left in Lion Safari in the park.
