Penal laws (Rajasthan amendment) bill, 2021 passed by voice vote
Jaipur, September 18. On Saturday the state assembly passed the penal laws (Rajasthan amendment) bill, 2021 by voice vote.
In response to the discussion on the Bill, Shri Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said that adulteration in food items and medicines is a serious problem for the health and life of the public. He said that this bill will strictly stop the sale of adulterated food items and spurious drugs and punish the culprits. Now by making provisions for stringent action in these offenses, the fine and punishment have been increased. This will help curb these crimes.
Shri Dhariwal said that arrangements are made to implement these laws on the ground. He said that the District Chief Medical and Health Officer are given the powers to take action. He said that the process is going on to fill up the vacant posts of Food Safety Officers and will be completed soon. Laboratories running at 9 places in the state for testing of food items. Also, 5 mobile laboratories are running. The process of opening laboratories in Churu and Jalore is going on. Food testing laboratories would be opened in every district of the state. He said that in the case of false medicines, the police would also be able to take action as per the IPC.
The House rejected the motion of the members to publicize the bill by voice vote.
