Jaipur: Having suffered huge financial losses due to the corona pandemic, airlines have increased air fares during Diwali season to make a good business.
People who wish to return to Jaipur on the occasion of Diwali will have to pay much higher as compared to normal days as the airlines have raised the air fare by 3 times.
For the last 8 months, airlines have been facing troubles on the economic front and finding it difficult to survive due to 40 to 50 percent passenger load in flights.
Since the festival of Diwali is soon approaching when a large number of people settled in other cities will travel back home, the airlines have started taking advantage of the opportunity.
Currently, 29 flights to 12 destinations are being operated from Jaipur daily. A large number of people from Rajasthan live in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Pune and the airfare to reach Jaipur from other major cities on Diwali seems quite high.
Usually, most of the people working in other cities return home on Diwali and the number of trains is quite low this year, therefore airlines have increased the fare by 2-3 times.
The airfare seems to be lower for cities where the number of flights is relatively high. With 4 flights available from Delhi to Jaipur, the fare is from Rs 2200 to Rs 2500 rupees.
There are 5 flights available daily from Kolkata to Jaipur and the fare is less. The airfare for travelling to Jaipur from Kolkata is from Rs 4551 to Rs 5917. On the other hand, the fare from Pune to Jaipur is more than Rs 10,000.
