Jaipur: A million dollar question has arisen in the present circumstances as to who will be the state’s Chief Information Commissioner?
It was being believed till now that former Chief Secretary and advisor to Chief Minister DB Gupta will be given this important responsibility by the government.
When an advertisement was issued for the position and applications were requested for the same, it was then believed that DB would be appointed for the position since he had also applied.
But now there has been a major turn in the entire episode since the Administrative Reforms department had re-invited applications for the post of CIC.
According to the advertisements in the newspapers, the last date of submission of the application is 13 November 2020.
With this, the entire bureaucratic and political setup is abuzz that the new advertisement has been taken out for Rajeeva Swarup.
The kind of efforts Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made for Swarup’s extension it only goes to emphasise that Swarup is Gehlot’s one of the favourite bureaucrats, who he wants to keep connected with himself any how.
Since he could not extend the tenure Swarup as CS, Gehlot may be thinking to put him as CIC. So now, Rajeeva Swarup has a bright chance of becoming CIC.
It is probably thus that the ‘new’ last date of submission has been extended by one week only so that Swarup can apply for this post.
Notably, Chief Minister has also finalised the name of minister Shanti Dhariwal as the final authority for the recruitment board for CIC.
