Jaipur: Corona has adversely affected air travel across the country. Jaipur airport has suffered a lot. According to a May report by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) , the flight operations and passenger numbers from Jaipur airport were less than many smaller airports, and Jaipur had dropped out of the top 15.
Jaipur airport has been successful in making a comeback in the July report. In May, smaller airports like Ranchi, Varanasi and Srinagar, which were not included in the top 15 airports, had overtaken Jaipur airport. Jaipur has got 12th rank in this report.
Jaipur came in the top 15 in-flight operations.
Not only in terms of passenger load but also in terms of the number of flight operations, Jaipur Airport has made a comeback in the top 15. Smaller airports like Chandigarh, Varanasi and Srinagar were also ahead of Jaipur during May. Lucknow and Patna airports were also ahead of Jaipur. But now, in July, Jaipur is ahead of Varanasi and Goa.
These figures are going to give some relief to the airport administration. After July, so far, five new flights have started in this month in August. These flights have increased to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Delhi. Along with this, a new air service has also started for Gwalior from August 20. In such a situation, it is expected that Jaipur Airport would further improve its rank in August.
