Jaipur: In a clear message that active, dedicated and result oriented leaders will be given responsibilities in the party organization, the BJP state president Satish Poonia has changed the party’s Jaipur president.
There will be no compromise on performance; this is what Poonia has conveyed to partymen by replacing Sunil Kothari with the new Jaipur president Raghav Sharma.
The development came after state leadership observed the poor performance of Kothari who failed to put up a good show during recent agitations. The agitations turned out to be mere formalities.
Apart from this, there was resistance from some other leaders of Jaipur that emerged during a Jaipur district unit’s meeting held by the party’s state general secretary Chandrashekhar.
He was puzzled whether to agree the names suggested by Sunil Kothari for his team or to pick the names suggested by other leaders or those who contested elections.
Poonia had options to either replace Kothari or to appoint strong leaders as general secretary and vice president in Kothari’s team.
He was of the view that the party should have a strong leader in Jaipur unit as it sets the example for others. It is now likely that faces from Poonia’s new team may find a place in other units.
