Jodhpur: It is a win-win situation for the ruling Congress that won Jodhpur municipal corporation North and the opposition BJP that gained majority in Jodhpur South.
The BJP was ruling Jodhpur Municipal Corporation but the government bifurcated the municipal corporation into Jodhpur north and Jodhpur South this time.
The municipal elections in Jodhpur were the issue of prestige for both the parties as Jodhpur is the hometown of both CM Ashok Gehlot, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
The CM, however, did not visit Jodhpur even once during elections and also skipped voting. His son Vaibhav Gehlot looked after the whole poll process that led to the party’s victory in one corporation.
On the other hand, Shekhawat’s efforts also turned successful in one municipal corporation. Gehlot’s political mastery was visible in the bifurcation of municipal corporation and delimitation of wards which paved the way for the party’s victory in one municipal corporation.
