Jaipur: The police seized firecrackers and arrested a person in Sirohi district and seizures were made at Renwal in Jaipur on Wednesday as the state government has banned sale-purchase of the firecrackers ahead of Diwali.
Firecracker traders protested the decision in Jaipur and demanded review by the state government.
The Jaipur police seized huge amounts of firecrackers from a shop at Chaupad market in Renwal leading to panic among the cracker sellers. Many of the shopkeepers downed their shutters and fled from the spot.
The police action continued by a team led by SHO Kailash Meena. The police are searching for other such secret warehouses. In Sirohi, the police seized a huge amount of illegal firecrackers in a room at Ajanta Copy Udyog in RICCO area.
The police arrested Sanjay Jain, a under the Explosives Act, said.
