Jaipur, 15th September. The national election commission has announced the program for by-election in 33 districts for 25 sarpanch, 39 up- sarpanch and 1226 village panch in the state.
Chief election officer and secretary of the commission Mrs.Chitra Gupta told that the commission has taken the decision of taking election on the empty positions of sarpanch, up-sarpanch, and ward panchs that have been emptied by 15th June 2021 in the village panchayats.
Mrs.Gupta told that public information will be notified for positions of 25 sarpanch, 39 up- sarpanch, and 1226 ward panchs in all 33 districts in the state on 20th September. The submission of enrollment papers can be done in panchayat headquarters from 10 am till 4 pm on 22nd September. On 23rd September the scrutiny of the enrolled papers will be done from 10 am. The names can be withdrawn on the same till 3 ‘o’clock. Immediately after the withdrawal, the allotment of the election symbols and publication of the list of the candidates appearing in the election will be done.
Secretary told that the voting will be done on 28th September from 8 am till 5 pm in the evening. Immediately after the completion of voting the counting of votes will be done in the panchayat headquarters. She told that election for the sarpanch position will be done through the medium of electronic voting and the voting forward panchs will be done through the medium of ballot boxes.
Mrs. Gupta said that with the announcement of the bye-election schedule, the provisions of the model code of conduct will be applicable to the extent of the respective ward or constituency, which will remain in force till the end of the election process. She said that new development works would not be sanctioned during the period of the model code of conduct in the concerned ward or constituency.
