Jaipur: Successful surgeries using advanced foreign robots have begun at SMS Medical College. After renowned hospitals in the country, the largest hospital in the state, Sawai Man Singh Hospital, is now conducting surgeries using robots. Following the regular hernia operations, on Saturday, ventral hernia surgery was also performed using the new technique of robots. Due to the lack of experience with robot-assisted surgery among doctors at SMS Hospital, a team from a renowned private hospital in Delhi was called to Jaipur, and under their guidance, the ventral hernia surgery was performed here.

The surgery was conducted with the assistance of robots under the command of doctors from private hospitals in Delhi and SMS Hospital.
What is Ventral Hernia?
The abdominal wall muscles help keep the organs and intestines in the correct position. Ventral hernia occurs in the abdominal wall muscles. Hernias can occur anywhere in the abdominal wall. In some cases, hernias do not require treatment as they heal on their own, but in most cases, surgery is the only treatment for ventral hernia.
Relief from Large Incisions
Hernia surgery used to be performed as open surgery and laparoscopic surgery at SMS Hospital. Open surgery required a large incision, while laparoscopic surgery required a smaller incision. However, patients were not getting complete relief. Dr. Yogendra Dadhich from the Surgery Department at SMS Hospital mentioned that many times, doctors were unable to reach the surgical site completely. Robotic surgery has the biggest advantage of requiring a very small incision. It also allows for faster recovery within a day.
Freedom from Unbearable Pain
Robots can reach places where doctors cannot reach through open and laparoscopic surgery. This enables the enlargement of incisions and solves the problem of barbed wire. In addition to the doctors from Delhi, Dr. Praveen Joshi, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Dr. Sandeep, Dr. Sunil Chauhan, Dr. Kan Chan, and Manoj Soni, along with the nursing staff, contributed to the surgery.
